Course Description (Grades 11 & 12, Credit 1) *This is BIOL 2010, 2011, 2020, and 2021 from the University of Memphis
Students will study the principles of cell biology, tissues, and the organization of the body. Emphasis will be placed on vocabulary, morphology, functions, and physiology of eleven systems of the human body, as well as their relationship with one another. Systems will include the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, digestive, cardiovascular, lymphatic, respiratory, urinary, and reproductive. The goals of this course are to prepare students for careers in Nursing, Medicine, Physical Therapy, Pathophysiology, etc. as well as further clinical studies through an overview of cell biology and a study of the important structures and functions of various systems and their interrelationships. Students are responsible for a per semester tuition cost and a fee for textbooks.
PREREQUISITES – Biology I and Chemistry; Admission to the University of Memphis (through HHS Guidance Department); ACT composite score of 19 or above; admission to the University of Memphis (GPA x 30 + ACT = at least 100); and TN residency for at least 1 yr. prior to registration
